Vigil Held For Jason John Missing at Austin : GIC Supports Public Initiatives

US National media is giving much importance to a vigil, for the 30-year-old man who went missing Sunday, held Saturday at Chicano Park in Austin.
Jason John is missing since February 5th, after he left a restaurant and walked on Rainey Street towards the Lady Bird Lake Trail, Austin, TX.
It's scary, sad, and strange to know that a grownup man can go missing like this from a very popular trail, which is often utilized by women and children, regardless of whether it is 2am or 2pm. It is surprising to note that proper lighting or security cameras are not installed in this park which is a part of the downtown area.
The family and friends are unaware of his last location, even though we can get more info from the mobile phone carrier and the cyber security agencies. The public is pleading the local authorities, and police department to reach out and provide more light on Jason's whereabouts.
Latest search efforts by local volunteers and law enforcement agencies have focused mainly on where he was last found on a remote security camera. We urge the local officials and other investigating agencies to increase their efforts to find out Jason.
Representing Global Indian Council and its Austin Chapter Ms. Preethy Pynadath and Narayan Janga attended the Candlelight Vigil Watch for Mr. Jason John. They spoke to his brother Rinju, his mom Elisa, his dad, and his friend who is organizing a WhatsApp group to help with the search. They are still looking for answers on what happened and trying to gather as much support as possible to make this national news. All his family is from New York.
Jason moved to Austin two years ago. He went for a run at 2 AM and never returned home. As they search for Jason, his family is learning about other incidents and how little awareness is being raised around missing persons all over the US. GIC reaffirms its commitment to providing community service in helping families search for the missing ones, just not in this instance.
Along with so many organizations, GIC also takes this incident more seriously and tries to help his family, friends, and all of us that are genuinely disturbed about this missing person.
GIC has offered help to the family members and supported the mass petition to the higher authorities, with solidarity and compassion. Global Indian Council President P C Mathew is submitting a memorandum to the Texas Governor to push and intensify the search efforts so that similar incidents will never repeat.
