March 30th: National Doctors Day
Saluting all our Physicians
Today, March 30th is being observed as National Doctors Day, an annual celebration aimed at appreciating and honoring physicians who help save lives everywhere. National Doctors Day honors the professionals for their dedication and contributions to society and the community.

The holiday first started in 1933 in Winder, Georgia, and since then it’s been honored every year on March 30 which was the first anniversary of a doctor using ether anesthesia by Dr. Crawford W. Long.

Today we continue to celebrate medical advances like these and thank all doctors everywhere who’ve spent so much time and energy mastering their field of expertise.
On this special Day, we are reminded of our dedication and commitment to put the patient first!!

Healthcare today is more complex than ever. With more advancements, tools and information at our fingertips physicians have an overwhelming job to diagnose and treat our patients every day, 24/ 7/ 365 days a year. In every city and hospital, in our military and in our rural communities, we, the doctors pave the way to provide better healthcare to our patients.

I want to take this special opportunity to thank our physicians for responding to late-night phone calls, working long hours and providing unswerving care. Today, more than ever, we know the sacrifices they make to put the health of their communities first.

We do acknowledge that these are challenging times, more than ever for us, physicians, who are on the frontline to assess, diagnose and treat people who are affected by this deadly pandemic, COVID-19. Many of our colleagues have sacrificed their lives in order to save those impacted by this pandemic around the world.

At AAPI, the largest ethnic medical association in the nation, we are proud, we have been able to serve every 7th patient in the country. We serve in large cities, smaller towns and rural areas, sharing our skills, knowledge , compassion and expertise and caring millions of people.

A huge thank you to all of the doctors, physicians, and other healthcare professionals for your dedication and commitment to service during this uncertain time. I am especially thankful for all the front-line physicians who are putting their lives at risk to the save the lives of others. Thank you for fighting selflessly against this virus and helping keep everyone healthy and safe. Your dedication and commitment to your patients is awe-inspiring and as an incoming medical student, I look to each and everyone one of you as my role model and mentor throughout my medical journey.
It’s an honor for me to join you all today as we celebrate our services, and salute and honor each other for our dedication and commitment to make this a better world and a healthier place for all of us to live and thrive.

Happy Doctors Day.

Best Regards,
Dr. Suresh Reddy
