JNPT's cargo traffic grows by 6.26%:
New Delhi, Oct 12: The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) recorded a growth of 6.26 per cent in container cargo traffic in the first six months of the 2017-18 fiscal, it was announced on Thursday.
The country's largest container port handled 2.4 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) of cargo compared to 2.26 million TEUs in the corresponding period of the previous year, a statement from the Shipping Ministry said.
"JNPT, which handled a record 4.5 million TEUs in the previous financial year, has sustained its momentum in the first six months of the current financial year as well," it said.
The Ministry said that JNPT has implemented various "Ease of Doing Business" initiatives for reduction in transaction cost and time consumed.
