Arsenal defender escapes unhurt in car accident
London, Sep 15 : Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker was involved in a minor car accident but has managed to avoid injuries.
The German international was going back home on Monday after training and lost control of his car because of heavy rain. His car then hit the central reservation, reported goal.com on Tuesday.
Media reports said that Mertesacker was left shaken by the crash and only he was involved in the incident.
Mertesacker is still recovering from an on-field injury he suffered a few weeks back and would not be taking part against Dinamo Zagreb in a Champions League tie on Wednesday according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
"With Mertesacker, it was a serious condition and he is not ready today to play," he had told reporters before the crash.
"I believe by the end of the week he should be much better," he added.
