New Delhi, June 16
Adobe is all set to disrupt the stock photo sales sector with its global launch of the Adobe Stock service on Tuesday which will allow users to buy photos via Adobe creative softwares such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

The new service comes after Adobe's $800 million acquisition in January of stock-art site Fotolia, an online marketplace connecting talent and buyers of photos, illustrations and video for use in projects like advertisements and annual reports.

The new product will aid Adobe to compete with top-seeded companies in the stock photo sector like Getty, Corbis and Shutterstock.

David Wadhwani, senior vice president, digital media, Adobe, said: "Adobe Stock, our brand new stock service, makes 40 million photos, vector graphics and illustrations accessible directly within your favourite CC desktop apps."

The Nasdaq-listed company will push the new service by integrating it into Photoshop and other products it offers under the collective name of creative cloud.

Explaining the sales model, Umang Bedi, managing director of South Asia, Adobe, said: "Adobe will give away 33 percent of the sale value to the creative individual which is more than the industry standard of 25 percent."

The launch assumes significance as it will shake up the $3 billion global market for stock photos. According to Adobe, the service makes perfect sense as an estimated 85 percent of creative individuals who buy stock content use Adobe tools and more than 90 percent of stock content sellers use Adobe software in the preparation of their photos and images.

Adobe Stock will be available in 36 countries and will support 13 languages worldwide although the integrated bundle will take time to come to India.

In addition, Adobe also launched its 2015 version of creative cloud tools and services which includes desktop tools, including Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, Premiere Pro CC and InDesign CC as well as new connected mobile apps for iOS and Android.

While the Nasdaq-listed company released Brush CC, Shape CC, Color CC and Photoshop Mix for Android, it updated many of its popular creative cloud mobile apps for iPhone and iPad, including Adobe Comp CC, Photoshop Mix, Photoshop Sketch, Illustrator Draw, Brush CC, Shape CC and Color CC.

"The 2015 release of Creative Cloud is packed with innovation. Our CreativeSync technology deepens the connections between desktop apps and mobile apps on iOS and Android; and major updates to Creative Cloud's infrastructure and administrative capabilities make this an essential upgrade for enterprise customers," said Wadhwani.

In addition, Adobe announced an expanded creative cloud enterprise offering that includes enterprise-grade administration, security, collaboration and publishing services for design-driven brands, businesses and large organisations.

"We know that companies that foster creativity are 3.5 times more likely to outperform their peers in terms of revenue growth, based on Forrester's Creative Dividends research released late last year," Bedi said.
