Jamaica, NY: Air India New York presented the ‘summer in-flight menu to the media  at Flying Food inflight caterers at JFK International Airport in New York.

Regional manager – Americas, Rishikant Singh, welcomed the gathering.

Samples of the menu in all three classes of service were on display for inspection. James Ball, Flying Food Group’s vice president of sales and services, and Intiaz Yasin, account manager for Air India, along with their team of talented chefs, were on hand to describe and present the variety of items served inflight, and explained the entire process of food preparation and quality control.

Air India has always been known for its onboard cuisine, and for the gracious hospitality with which it is served. Unlike many airlines these days, Air India still offers multiple meals and drinks onboard at no cost, and the quantities served ensure that passengers will have no trouble in falling asleep after their meals.

Singh discussed the importance of food in Indian culture, and the great variety of cuisines found in India – all of which are reflected in Air India’s inflight menu.

First class passengers are served a course meal at the time of their choosing. The dietary or religious requirements can be taken care of including Hindu meal which is non-vegetarian with exclusion of beef products, while Moslem meal avoids pork and serves halal meat. Similarly Kosher meal serves practicing Jews, and Jain meal follows strict guidelines. There is an option for Gujarati meal, or any other special needs such as a  meal with only fruits and nuts for those on fast. Severe food allergies which require inconveniencing passengers are the only exception.

All special neal (SPML) requests need to be made minimum 48 hours prior to departure, especially for economy class.
