Dr. Betty Benjamin paased away on March 2

Dr. Betty Benjamin, wife of Dr. Benjamin George, died on March 2nd, 2015.
She  was born in India on 21st May 1954.  She is the second daughter of late Mr. KC Kurian and late Mrs. Saramma Kurian, Kunnumpurathu, Mallapally, Kerala, India and the wife of Dr. Benjamin George, M.D., Chavanikamanil, Chelacompu, Kerala, India. 
She went to be with the Lord on March 2nd, 2015, after a brief illness at the Robert Wood Johnson’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
Betty grew up in Bangalore, India and graduated from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India and finished her MD with distinction.
Working as a medical consultant in Christian Fellowship Hospital, Oddanchatram, and Bishop Walsh Hospital, Thadagam, Coimbatore, India she took care of the needy and poor patients.
 She then worked in P.S.G Medical College as a Professor in the Department of medicine.  After migrating to the United States in 1995, she joined New York Medical College at Sound Shore Medical Centre, New Rochelle, NY and completed fellowship in Endocrinology at the St. Luke’s Roosevelt Medical Centre, New York.  She joined Albert Einstein Medical Centre, Philadelphia, PA as Consultant Endocrinologist and retired from Ocean Medical Centre at Brick, NJ.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years Dr. Benjamin George (Kings County Medical Centre, Brooklyn, New York), daughter Krupa Bousquet, son-in-law Dr. Ludovic Bousquet, granddaughters Talitha and Abelle, Sisters Dr. Valsa Abraham, Dr. Ruby Abraham and their families.
Betty leaves the legacy of an astute, compassionate physician whose understanding of her field of study surpassed most around her.  Moreover, the near death experience fourteen years ago gave her an insight into life and death, adding an invaluable dimension to her various roles as physician, teacher, friend, wife, mother and grandmother.

She  was associated with the Emmanuel CSI Church in Philadelphia and Calvary Chapel in Old Bridge, NJ. She loved knitting and giving her crafts to those she loved and raising funds for mission activities. She took great pleasure in cooking for her family and friends. She will be missed by many. She passed away peacefully to be part of the heavenly realm.

Friends and relatives may call on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm & 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church, 423 Dunham’s Corner Rd., East Brunswick, NJ 08816. Funeral Service will take place at 9:00 am on Saturday at the St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church.  Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 425 Georges Road, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
