Surendra Motilal Thakkar passed away
Chicago IL: Please join us in expressing our deepest condolence at this hour to the sad demise of our beloved Surendra Motilal Thakkar. Surendra Motilal will live for years to come within our hearts. May her soul rest in peace....Surendra Motilal Thakkar died peacefully at Presence Holy Family Medical Center on Friday, March 6th 2015 at 6:40 PM in Des Plaines, Illinois at the age of 74.
Surendra Thakkar is survived by his wife, Padma Thakkar; his daughter and son-in-law, Anisa and Dr. Tapan Daftari, respectively; his son, Shobhan Thakkar; his brother and sister-in-law, Ashwin and Gita Thakkar, respectively; three grandchildren, Shivam, Manav and Avi Daftari.
Surendra Thakkar was born on October 16, 1940 in Vaso, Gujurat to Motilal and Shantaben Thakkar. He married Padma Thakkar in 1967. After moving to the United States, Surendra Thakkar graduated from IIT and began working as a Mechanical Engineer. Over the next ten years, the couple welcomed two children into their home. His children and grandchildren remember him as a tall, kind, and determined man who encouraged them to pursue their goals. His story telling and laugh will be missed dearly.
Surendra Thakkar moved around the US while earning a living, living in cities like Chicago, Pittsburg, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Fort Worth, Charlotte, Kennewick, and Augusta. A dedicated worker, he retired just two years ago. Wherever he went, he would quickly make friends that lasted a lifetime. While a dedicated worker, he was even more of a dedicated husband and father. His children will dearly miss his advice which would range from finances to life choice – all of which was always correct. In the greater Chicago community, he was best known for coming to the United States and in turn sponsoring hundreds of individuals and families. He was an active and dedicated member of the Lohana Samaj and the Shree Jalaram Mandir and was known by many members of the Chicago community.
