New Delhi and Mumbai international airports have been rated among the top five global airports in the world in terms of size by the Airports Council International's Airport Service Quality Awards-2014, official sources said here Tuesday.

This is the fourth consecutive award for the GVK-run Chhatrapati Shivaji International in the 25-40 million passengers per annum category.

The top five airports globally include New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, Taipei's Taoyuan, Chongqing, Shanghai Hongqiao and Mumbai's CSIA, as per the ACI.

The ASQ Survey, on which the awards are based, is the airport industry's standard for measuring passenger satisfaction.

It rates each airport's performance in 34 key service areas under eight major categories including access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage providers, and more.

The results of the survey allow airports to track and analyze their performance vis-a-vis other airports around the globe.

The ACI awards, regarded highly by the world aviation industry, is the latest feather in the CSIA's achievements which includes the Golden Peacock Award for its Pranaam GVK Guest Services, and earlier it had bagged the same award in 2010 in the 15-25 million pax per annum category.

Created in 2006, the ACI-ASQ has sent airport passenger satisfaction benchmarks with over 280 participating airports, and measures the passengers' views prior to boarding flights.
