Cancel Kejriwal's candidature, BJP asks EC
New Delhi, Jan 27
The state unit of the BJP
Tuesday urged the EC to cancel AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal's candidature
and ban him from addressing public gatherings, alleging that he has
violated the model code of conduct.
"He has been making frivolous
accusations against other parties and individuals so that he can
mislead the people. We have urged the EC to take immediate action
against him and to cancel his candidature as well as ban him from
addressing public rallies," Satish Upadhyay, president of the BJP Delhi
unit, told reporters.
The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) media
convener Praveen Shankar Kapoor told IANS that the complaint to the
Election Commission consisted of "four to five violations" of the code
of conduct that Kejriwal has committed.
"It includes him asking
voters to accept the alleged bribes given by the BJP and Congress as
well as his pasting pictures of Kiran Bedi (BJP's chief ministerial
candidate) without her permission," Kapoor said.
