D-Link Corporation, a Taiwanese multinational networking equipment
manufacturing company, plans to set up an office here that will generate
1,000 jobs.
Telangana's Information Technology Minister K.
Tarakarama Rao told reporters Friday that the company's president A.P.
Chen was here recently and he conveyed that they want to set up 1,000
employee offices.
The minister said he might visit Taiwan to hold further talks with D-Link officials.
"We
would like to house them in Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at
Maheswaram. The place is yet to be finalised," he said, adding that "to
have D-Link will be good start to give impetus to EMC".
Stating
that Hyderabad remained an attractive investment destination, Rao said
the IT companies continued to hire and expand in Hyderabad.
He said Google would set up its permanent campus in Hyderabad. "An announcement will be made and we will have a MoU soon."
This
will be the global search engine giant's first campus outside the US.
It employs 3,000 employees at three locations in the city and plans to
double the headcount in five years.
Online retail giant Amazon
also plans to build new its own campus. It plans to build about 10 lakh
square feet facility, which will be its biggest facility outside its
corporate headquarters in the US.
Amazon currently employs 4,000 people at its campus in the leased premises and intends to add 5,000 jobs at the proposed campus.
India's
biggest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) is also
expanding its presence in Hyderabad. The minister said TCS's new
building at Adibatla.
This is expected to provide 28,000 new jobs
in three to five years. TCS already employs 26,000 people at four
facilities in the city.
Wipro has already announced its expansion plans for Hyderabad.
"Hyderabad
offers the best value proposition in the country for any corporate
company coming in," said the minister, who is son of Chief Minister K.
Chandrasekhar Rao.
Stating that real estate prices in the city
had gone up by 30 percent last month, he said with the market sentiment
improving, employment opportunities growing and Information Technology
Investment Region (ITIR) unfolding and evolving, the city was poised to
leap frog to be the number one IT destination in the country.
He
said the IT sector, which provides direct employment to over three lakh
people and indirect employment to 15 lakh, would get all the attention
of the government.
He said the infrastructure would be further improved in the western part of the city, which houses IT companies.
He
said by 2018 when Hyderabad will host World IT Congress, the city's
face will change. "The government is working to make Hyderabad a truly
global city."
With Rs.57,000 crore IT exports during 2013-14,
Telangana was at fourth place as a state. Among cities, Hyderabad ranked
second, accounting for 12 percent of the country's total IT exports.
With a share of 31 percent, Bangalore is at first place.
