INANY Announces NP Week Celebration and Educational Event in Long Island

The Indian Nurses Association of New York (INANY) announces its NP Week
celebration on November 8 th in Long Island’s Cotillion Restaurant in Jericho. As part of
its objective to promote nursing education, INANY has organized the day to provide
nursing continuing education hours. Experts in the fields of nursing and medicine will
share information on evidence-based developments in healthcare.
Nurse practitioners, as pillars of resilience and innovation, rise to meet every challenge,
ensuring that access to vital healthcare is never out of reach. They play a critical role
in addressing provider shortages, serving communities where physicians are scarce,
and supporting hospitals by allowing physicians to focus on complex cases. Currently,
29 states, Washington, D.C., Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands grant nurse
practitioners full practice authority — a development that has enhanced operational
efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the healthcare system.
INANY stands as the collective voice of registered nurses of Indian origin throughout the
New York metropolitan region. The association’s members represent a diverse range of
nursing professionals, including bedside nurses who provide direct patient care, nurse
administrators, educators, university faculty, researchers, and nurse practitioners.
United by a dedication to excellence and service, INANY supports its members through
advocacy, professional development, and community engagement.
Dr. Ethel Ulrich, Associate Dean of Advanced Practice Nursing, will deliver the keynote
address. The event will also feature Dr. Charls P. Vega, MD, Clinical Professor at the
University of California, who will present findings from the third-phase trial of the new
cardiovascular medication REDUCE-IT. Dr. Vega will represent the grand sponsor,
Ameri Pharma.
Tara Shajan, Vice President of the National Association of Indian Nurses of America
(NAINA) and past president of INANY, will lead an insightful talk on “Stress and Its
Effect on Mental Health.” As Director of Inpatient and Outpatient Nursing at Saint
Catherine of Sienna Hospital in the Catholic Health system, Shajan brings extensive
expertise in psychiatric and mental health nursing.
Christy John, a nurse practitioner from Northwell Health System, will present on “T Time
for Our Advanced Care Providers.” John’s experience in multispecialty units across
Northwell contributes a valuable perspective to the discussion on advanced care
practice.
Following the speaker sessions, a panel discussion titled “From Crisis to Continuity:
Telehealth in Tomorrow’s Healthcare” will be moderated by Dr. Anna George, Dr. Kerry
Mastrangelo, Dr. Randy Pellew, and Dr. Presija Manoj. The discussion will explore how
telehealth innovations continue to shape the future of patient care.
All INANY members, nurse practitioners, and nursing professionals in the region are
encouraged to attend this landmark event. The celebration promises to be an enriching
experience, combining recognition, learning, and camaraderie within the Indian nursing
community. Attendees will receive complimentary nursing continuing education credits,
and lunch will be provided. The event is free and open to all nurses, offering a day of
learning, networking, and recognition. Registration can be done using the link:
