Newark Airport ranks last once again; even the new Terminal A couldn’t save it.

Despite positive reviews for the newly built Terminal A, constructed at a cost of 2.7 billion dollars, Newark Liberty International Airport has once again ranked last in passenger satisfaction. In the latest J.D. Power North American Airport Satisfaction Study report, Newark came in last place among 20 mega airports.

The study pointed out that while the new Terminal A performs well, factors such as heavy traffic congestion on roads leading to the airport, the outdated AirTrain system, and inconveniences at other terminals continue to lower passenger satisfaction. Flight delays caused by a shortage of air traffic controllers and other staff have also caused significant difficulties for travelers. Additionally, outdated technology and equipment failures were reported to be affecting airport operations.

The J.D. Power survey evaluated multiple factors, including airport access, security checks, terminal facilities, staff service, food and beverages, and shopping. Newark ranked poorly across all these categories. At the top of the mega airport list was Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport.
