Political organisation Indian American Impact's Impact Fund has funded two six-figure campaigns, one in Oregon and one in Virginia, to support Congress candidates Suhas Subramanyam and Susheela Jayapal, respectively. Subramanyam is receiving $250,000 and Jayapal is receiving $150,000 in a postal campaign.

Assuming she is elected in November, Jayapal would make history as Oregon's first South Asian elected to a federal seat. In a similar vein, Subramanyam would be representing one of the top ten districts in the country in terms of the concentration of South Asian citizens, which is over 65,000.

The Impact Fund will send multiple letters to 90,000 registered voters (including over 20,000 South Asians) over the next five weeks, praising Subramanyam for his track record of successful legislation and his capacity to combat MAGA fanaticism.

Suhas Subramanyam's campaign for the Virginia congressional seat has our full endorsement. South Asian communities deeply resonate with Suhas's unwavering commitments to protecting abortion rights, strengthening gun controls, and investing in world-class education, according to Chintan Patel, executive director of The Impact Fund. This is based on his accomplishments and service in this district as both a state representative and a state senator.

In a similar vein, the postal campaign aiming to reach more than 40,000 Oregon voters will showcase Jayapal's politically pragmatic and progressive stance, with an emphasis on advancing national priorities like Medicare for all, climate justice, and abortion rights.

"Susheela's fundraising and endorsements are truly remarkable, surpassing those of her opponents. Her appeal to a diverse range of voters and coalitions is evident," stated Patel. With the endorsement and support of 166 candidates nationwide since its founding in 2016, the Indian American Impact has helped bring Indian and South Asian American presence in politics to a historic high.
