American citizens have a more positive reputation in India than they have at home, according to US Ambassador Eric Garcetti, who also noted that this is an unusual occurrence unique to the bilateral relationship between the US and India.
During his May 9 speech in Washington, Garcetti was a guest of the Council on Foreign Relations.

You have many influential people in charge who have come from here, done their education and work, and have a strong connection. The American people are really enthusiastic. One thing I mentioned to the president before we left for India was that Americans tend to do better in polls in India than they do back home. We really don't like ourselves, but they really do. Talking during the occasion, Garcetti remarked, "That's rare in the world today." He went on to say that Poland is the only other country that comes near to this occurrence.

Even in ten years, Garcetti promised the crowd, India will still be a thriving democracy.

"Ten years from now, India is going to be a vibrant democracy as it is today in terms of free and fair elections," he pointed out. This partnership can be trusted, I am certain of it. Joined forces, the United States and India will shape the relationship of the twenty-first century.

Indian efforts to digitise payments (UPI) and link medical records to individual IDs were also lauded by the US ambassador.

"They have a digital stack, they call it, which is an ID, a digital health identity, and a payment system comprising of 140 billion transactions and people who have no access to capital can use it because of very cheap cell phone rates in India, like 90 percent less than what we pay," added the mayor.

I really think India has an effect on you. Even though I didn't maintain that practice for 30 years, I had a foundational understanding of Indian culture and religion because to the classes I completed. "It's like you never lose those foundational moments," Garcetti said, referring to the transformative cultural impact India has on globe. Garcetti serves as the senior diplomat representing the Joe Biden administration in New Delhi.
