At the Brahmin Society of New York's Talent Show, which took place at Little Neck, NY's Louis Pasteur Middle School from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on May 4, 2024, over 200 spectators saw 85 performers ranging in age from 2 to 70 showcase their individual talents.

The programme featured four different kinds of talent performances, according to Ruta Dave, a trustee at BSNY, who spoke with Desi Talk: instrumental music, voice singing, dancing, and a fashion presentation. Celebrating Indian history while showcasing rising adolescent, adult, and senior talents, BSNY's talent show stayed true to its slogan.

According to Dave, the planning of the Talent Show—which BSNY has been hosting since its start in 1987—took over two months. After two months of planning, the Talent Show Committee finally gets down to business: reserving an auditorium, contacting choreographers, choosing and training the MC, hiring a DJ, and organising the submissions.

Present President Bharti Joshi, Vice President Kalpita Parikh, Trustee Ruta Dave, Secretary Poonam Shah, Dharini Trivedi, Shreya Mehta, and Tejal Raval were all members of the talent show committee that worked tirelessly to ensure that the entire event went off without a hitch this year.

Under the direction of Dave and Dharini Trivedi, the BSNY Youth Committee hosted the talent show. "Our young members are being trained and prepared to be MCs, to step up on stage and announce," Dave stated. According to Dave, six of the eight MCs that gave presentations were members of the BSNY Youth Committee.

In addition, Dave emphasised that the group's goal is to help the next generation become contributing members of society. The following individuals hold administrative positions within the BSNY Youth Committee: President Manav Trivedi, Vice President Shiv Purohit, Angel Shah, Devika Patel, Darshil Jahveri, Aanya Trivedi, and Saanvi Mehta.

Kamya Parikh's Saraswati Vandana and Ganesh Stuti were the first pieces performed that afternoon, with a Bharatnatyam fusion dance following.

Students from Rhythm Dance by Shilpa Mithaiwala and Sarega Desi Beats by Manik Malhotra captivated the crowds with their performances.

A fusion dance by more senior committee members was the show-stopper. Dave, Hema Choksey, and Shilpa Mithaiwala were among twelve women who danced to a fusion of "Shape of You" and "Ghar More Pardesia" under the choreography of Ruta Dave. Every week, the group practiced, according to Dave. Whenever possible, we all enjoy dancing and performing. For Dave, dancing is like breathing. She said that other events conflicted with this year's performance of the annual group dance for women over the age of 75 at BSNY.

The 27-child fashion show drew a large crowd this year as participants wore a wide range of clothing styles, from traditional Indian to Indo-Western, and everything in between. The children's ages ranged from 2 to 15. The yearly fashion show is overseen by a working group consisting of six members, including Dave, with secretary Poonam Shah and member Shreya Mehta serving as coordinators.

In 2023, BSNY began hosting the fashion show as a way to get kids and teens to step up to the platform and interact with the crowd. When it comes to performing on stage, some of them feel timid or even terrified. But when they're part of a group, they feel more comfortable, more prepared to face the crowd, and even more excited about the fashion show, according to Dave.

Each little contestant received a trophy at the show's conclusion, while the adults were given presents. Everyone enjoyed an early dinner of pizza at the event's conclusion. In an effort to inspire and equip the next generation to thrive in America while staying true to their cultural roots, BSNY hosts numerous activities like this throughout the year, particularly targeting the youth of the city.
