April 16 :
The Indian foreign minister, S. Jaishankar, expressed deep concern about the rising tensions between Israel and Iran and called on both sides to "calm down."

While speaking to reporters in Bengaluru at the launch of his Kannada book, Jaishankar emphasised the area's importance for shipping, trade, and the fact that over 10 million Indians call it home.

According to him, he has spoken with his counterparts in both Israel and Iran, and they have been advising them not to let the situation worsen. He also mentioned that this region is vital for the global economy.

I can't stress enough how delicate this area is. As a result, this kind of escalation and violence causes us great concern. Our main objective has been to reassure them to relax. Therefore, I called both my Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, and Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, yesterday," he said.

Iran will resolve the matter with the captured ship, Amirabdollahian said, assuring Jaishankar that Indian government officials would meet with the crew. Contacts with the Israeli government
