Podcast from Hindu American Foundation Wins prestigious Award

"All About Hinduism," a podcast by the Hindu American Foundation, was presented with a 2024 DeRose-Hinkhouse Award of Excellence for Speciality Programming, Podcast Series by the Religion Communicators Club. For the benefit of Hindu Americans, there is a non-profit advocacy group called HAF.

In its thirteen parts, "All About Hinduism" provides an informative audio tour of the third-largest religion in the world, answering listeners' most pressing issues while also laying out the religion's foundational principles and historical background. In addition to offering insights into controversial subjects, the programme also addresses modern challenges that Hindus face.

Mat McDermott, a senior director of communications at HAF, oversaw all aspects of the project, including writing, narrating, editing, and production. The presentation had academic advice from Dr. Shereen Bhalla, who was then HAF's director of education, and script assessment from Suhag Shukla, who is the executive director of HAF. Associate producer and HAF staff writer Syama Allard also had a hand in making the show what it was.

The 2024 DeRose-Hinkhouse Award has been bestowed upon All About Hinduism by the Religion Communicators Council, and I am overjoyed that my colleagues have recognised this fact. Hinduism is one religion about which Americans know very little.

Stereotypes and misunderstandings continue to control how the public views Hinduism and its traditions. Providing a clear and truthful picture of Hinduism was the goal of All About Hinduism, and I think they succeeded. Further exploration of this dynamic, contemporary, and intricate spiritual tradition is our goal for the second series, which we aim to bring to our listeners in greater depth," McDermott said.

Distinguished members of the Religion Communicators Council who demonstrate exceptional accomplishments in religious public relations and communications are honoured each year with the DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards.
