Assembly of California commemorates Mahavir Jayanti

April 12 :
On April 11, members of the California State Assembly, including Assemblyman Alex Lee, Assemblywoman Vinita Bhutoria, and prominent members of the Indian American community celebrated Mahavir Jayanti. In attendance were representatives from Jain temples in Milpitas, Pleasanton, Elk Grove, and Sacramento, as well as the Jain Associations in North America (JAINA), and the Jain spiritual head Acharya Lokesh Muni.
The festival revolved around Mahavir Jayanti, which marks the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir. It emphasised the importance of love, compassion, nonviolence, and peace. Specifically, Ajay and Vinita Bhutoria, drawing on the teachings of Acharya Mahasharman, launched the Anuvrat Digital Detox Movement to help people live a life unencumbered by technology.
In his conversation with Senator Dave Cortese, Ash Kalra, Alex Lee, and Liz Ortega of the California State Assembly, Ajay Bhutoria discussed the advantages of the Anuvrat Digital Detox Movement.
Setting boundaries, making an activity plan, practicing mindfulness, and reintroducing digital gadgets gradually are all steps that the Bhutorias emphasised as crucial to a successful digital detox.
This was the first-ever Mahavir Jayanti celebration in a US state assembly, and the Bhutorias deserve a lot of credit for planning it, according to Prem Jain, past president and Biren Shah, director of JAINA. At last, the assembly recognised Mahavir Jayanti and Acharya Lokesh Muni, and members of the assembly presented a certificate of recognition to Acharya Lokesh Muni, marking the end of the celebration.
