Indian American Student Found Safe in Texas Amid Concerns

Ishika Thakore, a 17-year-old Indian American student from Frisco, Texas, was located safely after her disappearance was reported on Monday, April 8. "Found - We have located the 17-year-old who was the focus of our Critical Missing Alert earlier today. Frisco Police expressed their gratitude to everyone who offered help and offered words of support in a post on X.

The 17-year-old Ishika Thakore was last seen in the 11900 block of Brownwood Dr. in Frisco on Monday, April 8 at 11:30 p.m. The Frisco Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating Thakore. Last seen wearing a black long-sleeve t-shirt and red/green pyjama pants, she is around 5'4" tall and weighs 175 pounds', the earlier alert added.

The exact circumstances surrounding the teen girl's discovery remain unknown, though, according to the Fiasco Police.

The subsequent discovery of the bodies of numerous other missing Indian students heightened concerns about Ishika's abduction. The United States has recently discovered the bodies of eleven students of Indian or Indian-origin descent, all of whom were twenty-five years old or younger.

A 25-year-old student from India named Mohammad Abdul Arfath was discovered dead in Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday. He had been missing for a month. A report from an Indian media outlet states that Arfath's parents were called last month and demanded ransom of Rs 100,000 to ensure their son's safety. Someone called the 25-year-old and said they were kidnappers who would sell the man's kidney for ransom if he wasn't paid.

The kidnappers did not clarify how they wanted $1,200 to be paid, but Arfath's dad Mohammed Saleem confirmed he got the call, according to The Hindu. The body of another student of Indian descent, Uma Satya Sai Gadde, was discovered in Cleveland, Ohio, last week.
