Indian national convicted of sex crimes against minor in Maryland deported by US

April 6:
Rearrested by the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Baltimore was an Indian national with a conviction for committing a sexual offence against a minor in Maryland.
The 32-year-old, whose identity was withheld in the official release, arrived in the US on December 12, 2019, as a nonimmigrant traveller, at Dulles International Airport in Dulles, Virginia.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained him on November 14, 2021, since he was wanted by the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland for sex offences in the third degree and sex abuse of a minor, warrants that were still current at the time.
Subsequently, he faced charges of third-degree sex offences and sexual abuse of a minor; the Circuit Court for Howard County in Ellicott City found him guilty and handed him a 10-year jail sentence.
His detainer was filed with the Howard County Detention Centre on February 1 by ERO Baltimore. On March 20, however, the sex offender was released from detention because the centre refused to honour the detainer. Deportation agents from the Criminal Apprehension Programme at ERO Baltimore detained him in Ellicott City that same day. He was ordered to be deported to India after a DOJ immigration court in Baltimore approved a Motion for Stipulated Removal Order and Waiver of Hearing.
Matthew Elliston, acting field office director of the ERO in Baltimore, explained that the presence of this predator in the area posed a serious danger to the youngsters living in the neighbourhoods in Maryland. We must not stand by and watch while sex criminals who are not citizens are free to roam our streets. Arresting the most heinous noncitizen offenders will be ERO Baltimore's top priority in order to ensure public safety.
