For the year 2024, Indian American Rahul Rekhi has been named a Young Global Leader.

April 5:
The World Economic Forum has announced the newest class of Young Global Leaders for 2024, and among them is Rahul Rekhi, an Indian American diplomat serving in the Biden administration. Of all the Indian Americans on the list, he stands alone.

The almost ninety-person Class of 2024 represents a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and they are all committed to making a difference in the world. The Forum of Young Global Leaders has been instrumental in fostering a network of young leaders dedicated to solving global issues for the last 20 years.

With extensive experience in key sectors like healthcare, technology, and economic policy, Rekhi is currently the Counsellor for International Affairs, US Department of the Treasury. In addition to his work as a consultant for the World Bank and an adviser to the Chief Medical Officer of England, he was a staff economist for the Obama administration's Council of Economic Advisers.

He formerly served as managing director at the New York-based financial consultancy firm Lazard, where he provided counsel to corporations, investors, and governments on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic and financial issues.

To further showcase his leadership and creativity in the industry, he co-led the firm's coverage strategy on healthcare software and data analytics. The Next Bretton Woods Group, a platform for emerging leaders in economic and financial policy, was managed by Rekhi at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, in addition to his job at Lazard. Rahul Rekhi is a recipient of multiple honours for his work and knowledge; these include the titles of Truman Scholar, Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum, and Forbes 30 Under 30.
