Shobana Patel, former president of FIA passed away

Edison, New Jersey: The Indian community is grieving the loss of noted activist and philanthropist Shobana Dinesh Patel (Royal Albert’s Palace) who passed away unexpectedly on January 12.
She was at the forefront of all good things, rising to become one of the most influential figures in our South Asian community. Her passion was woman empowerment and she embodied this by becoming the first woman president of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA.) She co-founded Shakti, The Power and was the director and creator of The Teen, Miss & Mrs. NJ Pageant amongst many other influential organizations.
She was a pillar of strength, beauty and stamina with a mission to inspire other women.
She is survived by Dr. Dinesh Patel, and children Disha & Jeevan Vinod; Misha & Darpan Dhaduk; and her grandchildren Niam, Alina, Zain and Alyza.
Viewing and funeral are scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 9 am to 11 am at Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 NJ-27, North Brunswick Township, NJ-08902
