Disney+ Hotstar announces its first web series in Malayalam - Kerala Crime Files

Disney+ Hotstar is all set to make another mark in the Malayalam entertainment industry with its first and biggest ever series in Malayalam titled "Kerala Crime Files" as part of its Hotstar Specials offering. This crime series promises to captivate audiences with gripping stories that unfold against the backdrop of Kerala. Each season will showcase different crime stories, adding a unique flavour to the series.

The first season features the talented actors Lal and Aju Varghese in lead roles, bringing their acting prowess to the forefront. As the plot unfolds, viewers will be taken on an intense journey of crime and investigation, leaving them at the edge of their seats.

Production is handled by Rahul Riji Nair (First Print Studios) and directed by the young and promising director Ahammed Khabeer. Written by Aashiq Aimar, Jithin Stanislaus will handle the cinematography, Hesham Abdul Wahab will be composing the music, Production design by Prathap Raveendran and Mahesh Bhuvanendar, the editing.


Director Ahammed Khabeer believes that the extended run time of a Web Series has given him the freedom to explore the nuances of the lead characters and build a stronger storyline focusing on their journey to make a much more engaging and impactful narrative.
Filmmaker and Producer, Rahul Riji Nair says “When we started the developing this as the first original web series coming out from Disney+ Hotstar Malayalam, we wanted to mount the authentic Malayalam storytelling style in a scale where it can be proudly benchmarked with all the other series produced from India in terms of its production value, style and quality”
