Global Indian Council Celebrates its First Onam at New York
New York: GIC New York Chapter President-Elect Dr. Anil Paulose and Global Business Center for Excellence Board Member Elizabeth Paulose celebrated Onam with elaborate preparations at their Brookville Garden. Dr. Paulose welcomed Sudhir Nambiar, Tara Shajan, Tom George Kolath, Sosamma Andrews, Usha George, Mr. George, and all the Executive Committee members, family members and friends.
Ms. Sosamma Andrews, Global Women Empowerment Chair Person, Usha George, Global Senior Care Chair, Neena Nambiar, and Crystal Shajan made the “Onam Pookkalam†instantly impressive. This really ignited the celebrating Onam mood. Congratulating everyone, Global Treasurer Tara Shajan said that GIC would become the voice of the voiceless shortly. Andrews Kunnuparam handed over his autographed books to the newly elected president Dr Anil Paulose and to other members as Onam gifts.
Although most of the Malayalee organizations are doing well, GIC focuses on the entire Indian community worldwide. Tom Kolath, Global Associate Treasurer, noted in his vote of thanks that this is exceptional and unique work to be done by GIC . Different states in India are similar to other countries in many ways. They speak different languages, and various art, culture, and food always exist there. The boundaries of the Indian Diaspora are immeasurable. The organization called GIC has outstanding commitments to bring them together and serve. Tom also mentioned that the concept of Onam should be a universal festival that unites us with a celebration of vegetarianism, harvest, joy, and unity.
Global General Secretary Sudhir Nambiar said that the mood of Onam should be maintained and celebrated throughout the year. He encouraged everyone present with his speech. We are happy that Malayalees celebrate this Onam wherever we are. All Indians from Kanyakumari to Kashmir share and enjoy the excitement of Onam. GIC Sudhir added that not only Onam but Diwali, Holi, and other celebrations that preserve Indian culture could be held through out without any regionalism. Sudhir reminded us that organizations should not remain isolated and should work together.
Everyone thanked the hosts, Dr. Anil Paulose and Elizabeth Paulose for their exceptional hospitality. Global President PC Mathew, Vice President Prof. Joy Pallattumadom, P. R. O Adv. Seema Balasubramaniam, Adv. Susan Mathew, Adv. Yamini Rajesh, Goodwill Ambassador Dr. Jija Madhavan Harisingh, Brand Ambassador Kamlesh Mehta, etc., wished Onam greetings to all.
