Radio Zindagi with Koshy Thomas organize 1st Virtual Celebration event on Biden-Harris victory in Indian-American community in New York

Indian-American community seems happiest on Biden-Harris victory and organized the 1st virtual celebration event in New York. Radio Zindagi in association with Koshy Thomas took the initiative and invited the community leaders for the event which lasted about one hour.

Radio Zindagi is America's #1 and largest South Asian radio Network from East to West Coast(www.RadioZindagi.com). Koshy Thomas is a well known community leader and activist in New York and is running for a public office in New York city in 2021.

About 50 leaders joined on the zoom event on a busy Saturday. The event was opened by Mr. Sunil Hali, Promoter and Publisher of Radio Zindagi which has played a lead role during pandemic and Presidential election as community's voice. Mr. Hali greeted the audience and invited Prof Inderjit Saluja as opening speaker. Prof Saluja expressed his sigh of relief on Biden victory. He saw an end of era of dictatorship and good times ahead for all. Especially with Indian-Americans who have been at the top in leading corporations.

Mr. Hali spoke next and set his expectations from Biden based on his vast experience in Washington DC and in foreign relations. Said Mr. Hali,"Biden will bring discipline to administration and diplomacy will rule the relationships. Protocol order will be restored under Biden". About Ms. Harris, said Mr. Hali,"She will help restore confidence in law and order. Being a an Indian-African, Ms. Harris is from a minority and a 1st woman Vice-President of USA. That adds to expectations from her towards immigrants, and relationship with India. As a woman, she will help in bringing American families together and make the country caring and loving". "We need a united USA and a world that is peaceful. President Biden should immediately focus in uniting Americans. Making relationship between US and rest of the world stronger," said Mr. Hali. He was categorical that the top priority is in dealing with pandemic followed by economy and safety of common man. Mr. Hali said,"Biden has an advantage of seeing the challenges of COVID19 since March and think of best ways to deal with it. The impact of pandemic on economy and how America needs to get back. Wall street as well as small business need to be put back on track. I also expect that the new administration will help in supporting India in handling the aggressive neighbors. And have a better understanding of India's internal challenges. US will build a strong trade relationship with Indian companies in immediate future".

Ms. Nilima Madan President of Rotary in New York and a community leader moderated the event and felt relieved with Biden-Harris taking over from a dictator. Mr. Naresh Gehi, a strong democrat and well known attorney recounted the 400 executive orders by Trump which are more than the total executive orders by all previous Presidents together. This tells the sad story of Trump Presidency which has divided America. He urged guests and community to get involved in local politics.

Dr. Aney Paul, an elected Indian from Rockland county spoke highly about Ms Kamala Harris. She sees a great time ahead based on experience of Biden. Kalathil Varughese, Vice Chairman of DNC in Nassau county pinned his hopes in next generation. The well educated youth will be an asset. He said,"Biden will be a great leader and will reunite USA. We must trust him and give him an opportunity to make America better". Paul Karukapillil, of National Federation of Kerala in USA said,"Now we can see the American dream again".

Ms. Malini Shah, a well known community leader and Advisor to several Public Officials in New York, who spoke next, said,"It is good for minorities. We can work together. I expect Biden to reunite us and bring peace to this country". Leela Maret, an active community leader and a well known face when it comes to serving any cause said,"Dictatorship is gone. Americans were fed up. Democracy is back". Bina Sabapati, former President of IALI in New York wished the new administration a good luck.

Dr Bindu Babu, well known for her humanitarian work felt very comfortable with a woman leader finally in USA at the top. The US is a melting pot and will be back on track soon. U.A. Naseer called from India and said,”I see the new role and new leaders as a very positive development". Gobind Munjal former President of AIA(NY)was ecstatic and said,"Era of democracy has restarted. Americans have woken up. Demonization is over and it is a great moment. America will be united again". He commended the audacity of Biden to have taken a woman as Vice President.

Ms Nilima Madan in her closing remarks sees a better four years and a progressive American. Koshy reaffirmed his support for the community.
