Washington D.C. – Protests have followed after the death of George Floyd in all major cities of the nation. Citywide curfew has been imposed to protect citizens and property. People are protesting against police brutality and have observed black Tuesday. They have darkened their social media sites in support of black brothers and sisters. Many occurrences of looting and burning fires happened and use of tear gas to deter the protestors has been used by the police. There is unrest. Police are also asking for apologies as people are coming in large numbers full of anger on streets to protest.
Coming from a nation of Mahatma Gandhi we learned at an early age through school books that many peaceful resistance events were carried out by the father of the nation against the ruling British Empire. Gandhi ji fasted to get the attention of the Britishers because he held on to the truth steadfastly and asked to “Quit India." His movement and fight happened which was fought passively not aggressively. His approach was non-cooperation without violence.
Martin Luther king, a follower of Gandhi, advocated civil rights through non-violence and civil disobedience. Former President George Bush said, he and former first lady Laura Bush were anguished by the killing of George Floyd and disturbed by the injustice and fear. "Yet we have resisted the urge to speak out, because this is not the time for us to lecture. It is time for us to listen. It is time for America to examine our tragic failures -- and as we do, we will also see some of our redeeming strengths," the statement said.

President Trump said, he is an ally of the peaceful protestors. He is mobilizing all available federal resources, civilian and military to stop rioting and looting, to end the destruction and arson. And to protect the rights of law-abiding Americans, including your Second Amendment rights.
Bias exists, it may or may not be on the conscious level, however, its existence cannot be denied. Black race is oppressed. We, collectively have to make effort to not perpetuate bias and economic inequities but to overcome consciously by diligent ways to eliminate the prejudice and bias against all minorities in our daily dealings. These are extra difficult times and we are in an uncharted time zone, let us make effort to work together - to achieve equality and respect for all races. As all lives are precious and all lives matter including black lives. NFIA stands for inclusion, respect and equality for all and to observe the law of the land.
