Nostalgia..( Athena Susan Sajan )

We had a flat roof before we renovated the house. My brother and I would go up there during monsoon. Raised roads meant no more floods for us to play in.

So we would make a flood of our own by purposely plugging the pipe holes on the roof with fallen leaves. The water level was enough for our short legs. We would release little fishes there, just to see them rapid through their element and disappear.

When it wasn't raining, I would walk it's perimeter to finally lie at its centre, staring at the starry sky; till, that is, Amma screamed from the kitchen, "Ediiiiii... Erangi vaadi ivde!!!" Her horn would blare through the chimney and resound in my little piece of heaven. "Pandaaram", I would murmur.

I like how spacious our house is now, how cool it is than before, how beautifully architectured it is. We each have our own rooms, which we leave mostly to eat only.

It makes me think what kind of memories I would want for my children and they theirs.
Maybe it's not the house.
Maybe it is...¿
