Boy stabs girl, sets her on fire

Thiruvalla (Kerala), March 12 A 19-year-old youth on Tuesday stabbed his friend then doused her with petrol and set her on fire at a main road here, police said.

Ajin Reji Mathew was later overpowered by onlookers and handed over to the police. The victim was taken to a hospital.

Doctors said she has sustained 60 per cent burn injuries and her condition is serious.

According to police, Mathew and the victim were classmates in school and thick friends. Recently, when the girl told him of her disliking towards the friendship, he became angry and decided to punish her.
