FIA elects Alok Kumar president; Amit Yadav general secretary

The Annual General body meeting of the Federation of Indian Associations (Tri-State) elected its new officials unanimously with Alok Kumar as president.
Other officials are: Himanshu Bhatia (executive vice president) Saurin Parikh (vce president) Amit Yadav (general secretary) Mardari Patel (joint secretary), Amit Ringasia treasurer and Srujal Parikh as the immediate past president.
The election commission chair Jayesh Patel and member Yash Paul Soi announced the 2019 FIA team.

The event held at the Royal Alberts Palace, Edison, New Jersey was presided over by the current president Srujal Parikh. The meeting approved the report of the general secretary Daxa Amin and the financial reports by Treasurer Himanshu Bhatia.

The other officials including Alok Kumar (executive vice president), Chhavi Dharayan (vice president), Haresh Shah (jt. secretary) and Andy Bhatia (past president) were also present.

Parikh welcomed all attendees, which included Board of Trustees (BOT), Board of Directors and the 2018 Committee members and commended the work of the executive committee and the 2018 committee. He also expressed his gratitude for the supporters and sponsors. Parikh provided highlights of major events in a chronological order during and shared the grand success of multiple events.

These included the lighting of the Empire State Building, now a tradition in its 6th year as well the historic Diwali day lighting of building in diya colors, for the first time.
He said the FIA’s flagship event, the 38th India Day Parade in NYC on Aug. 19th, was marked by the presence of Grand Marshal Kamal Hassan along with Chief Guest Star performer Padma Shri Kailash Kher, Legendary Cricketer Sir Viv Richards, Guest of Honor Shruti Hassan, singing sensation Shibani Kashyap among a host of other notable celebrities.

The group cheered efforts that brought the success of the Independence celebrations with its own set of multiple programs like on-stage performances and ‘Fun Fair’ with concession stands. The success of FIA’s Grand Gala Reception held at The Royal Albert’s Palace in honor of the Grand Marshall and the supporters were also highlighted by Parikh.

Chairman Ramesh Patel applauded Parikh for his leadership and service to the organization. He pointed out that the new team consists of the 2nd generation of volunteers assuming leadership roles.

The new president, Alok Kumar began serving the community while he was in Darbhanga, Bihar. Kumar is an IT professional who came to the US 15 years ago. He has been an integral part of the FIA executive committee since the last 4 years and brings along a highly in-depth and professional experience. He concluded highlighting his confidence in the elected team and thanking FIA, BOT and the member organizations for trusting and showing faith in his leadership.

FIA also honored the voluntary efforts and support of noted journalist Yoshita Singh, correspondent for PTI at the event.
